Fuzzy thoughts at 3 months

I haven't caught up for a while and while I am looking at your blogs I haven't been commenting much. I have been really poorly with a virus bug thing and feeling really rotten. I am still sober though and just passed my 3 month mark this week ... YAY! And that achievement feels great!

I hope to catch up with you all this weekend and write some 13 weeks reflections when my head is feeling a little clearer. Apart from Patrick who's spammed my blog, and others. Bloody irritating. Patrick, I am not a 12 stepper but many of my blog friends are. I am not a bigot you see, now bugger off and leave us alone. I suspect I will have to activate comment moderation which is irritating. Hmm, well, such is life!

A good weekend to all! :-)

Longer time, still no post

Well here I am again more than one year on. Not very much further forward but as of today I am 30 days sober.

I have decided to start my blog again but want to change how I approach it. Last time it was primarily a recovery blog, but I soon got caught up in the recovery Blogging social circle and found it distracted me (particularly when I wanted to be distracted) from my primary purpose. I spent more time Blog hopping than thinking about my own recovery and that became really time consuming.

This time I want to broaden it to other areas of my life which I need to work on, but are fundamentally connected to sobriety. I have been looking at stuff like how I handle money, how I spend my sober free time and generally organising my life. Things I didnt consider before. eg. I can be a spendthrift but being constantly hungover prevented even me from going out and spending! Now I am feeling better I feel I am rewarding myself by buying stuff, nothing exrtavagant and generally for my house and everyones benefit etc but I know I need to keep track of that. Delayed gratification was never something I was good at.

I want to work out a budget and learn how to handle my money better. Healthy eating is on the list as is giving up smoking and doing more, no some, excercise. I didnt really find it helpful to keep psting about how long I was sober and how hard it was etc. I want to grow and look back to see how I have grown and recognise what works and what doesnt.

There endeth my first post in a year!

Tagged by Lushgurl

OK I got tagged, so here goes. Seven songs I like, not listening to all right now but just dredged up a few from under the surface of my memories! A bit of a mix of old and new, popular and probably unheard of! A weird taste in music for a weird mind!

  1. Run - Snow Patrol
  2. The Night - Franki Valli & the 4 Seasons
  3. She Moves in Her Own Way - The Kooks
  4. Living in the Past - Jethro Tull
  5. Heart of Gold - Neil Young
  6. Crash - Dave Matthews Band
  7. Walking in Memphis - Marc Cohn
OK and now I need to tag 7 more. Its hard to see who hasnt been tagged with this one but I'll go for AAWakenings, Jedi Michael, Lounge Daddy, Spencer, Its a Girl Thing, Perfect Virgo and Second Surrender.

You're tagged guys and gals!

A Post for Castor

When I first returned to blogging recently, I discovered that my old blogging friend Castor has passed away last year when I read the comments on this post.

Castor was a talented artist in Vienna and from my knowledge of him in the blogging world, he was a lovely and gentle man. He painted the profile image I have been using and posted it on his blog for me some time ago as I had used a poppy image before that. The painting is called 'The Other Death'.

At first I wanted to leave the image in my profile but I am now finding it making me feel very sad each time I see it. So I have decided to create this post in Castors memory and say farewell to him here. I can always look back and link to his blog so long as it is there. And I have given the blog a new colour scheme and profile image of a snowdrop while I wait for spring to arrive!

Farewell Castor, sleep well xxx

Old HNT blog and Google Blogger

I'm just posting this to answer a few queries I've had re people not being able to access the old HNT or switch to Google blogger. The story so far:

I set up the old HNT originally well over a year ago. At some point after that I gave dAAve and JJ 'admin' access. A while later I stopped blogging and I think someone who had admin rights changed my access to posting only ie. when I returned to blogging a couple of weeks ago I only had access to post, I could not access the admin settings or template so I couldnt add or delete members by then.

I then decided to switch to Google Blogger myself and couldnt. I realised that it was the HNT blog holding that up so asked dAAve to remove me all together. He did this and I switched over but it seems that no one has been able to access the HNT blog since. (Is that right, I'm not too sure?)

Gwen set up the new one so all seemed OK but now it seems no one still attached to that old HNT blog can switch to Google Blogger? Theres something on the Blogger help about team blogs here but I dont understand it and I it doesnt explain why you folk cant switch?

I'm happy to contact Blogger to see if they can put it right but cant find a direct email. I will try to contact them via those help forums and see if they can add old HNT to me again so we can sort this out.

If anyone can understand whats happened let me know or post a link where I can contact Blogger?

Sorry this has caused all this hassle but I'm not sure why the new admins didnt 'inherit' HNT when I was taken off, it seems a mad way to do things?

Aaaaaargh!!!!!
